Dutch skies star in Hollywood films and games

Dutch photographer Bob Groothuis is making a name for himself in Hollywood, amongst other places, with his characteristic renderings of Dutch skies. In the same way that Old Masters such as Vermeer and Rusydael put Dutch skies and light on the map back in the 17th century, Groothuis is capturing dramatic Dutch skies as HDR (High Dynamic Range) images in 360-degree panoramas for use in the film and computer gaming industries. These 360-degree HDR images give the user a feeling of total immersion in the environment and therefore dramatic skies can add considerably to the overall experience. Groothuis sells his images via DVD's that also contain a special ancillary file which allows users to automatically import the images into most current 3D applications. His DVDs are popular in places as diverse as Peru and the United States, however, with support and advice from the Dutch government's NL Agency, he has set his sights on making inroads in the lucrative Asian market.
