Heart health bakery fats from new enzymatic technology
IOI-LodersCroklaan, a leading global
producer and supplier of vegetable oils and fats, has opened a new plant in Rotterdam for the
production of enzymaticallyinteresterified
fats and oils for the food industry. These new fats utilize innovative
manufacturing techniques to produce bakery fats. To coincide with the opening
of the Rotterdam Palm Oil Plant Complex, IOI-LodersCroklaan also announced the launch of its new enzymaticallyinteresterified
product line; CrokvitolTM. Crokvitol
was originally the name of a margarine produced by LodersCroklaan in the 1960s that was designed to promote
good heart health. It was one of the very first margarines that aimed to
improve nutritional benefits. The new plant, which was officially opened by Dato’ Lee YeowChor, Executive Director of the IOI Group, and Maria van derHoeven, Dutch Minister of
Economic Affairs, features the latest technologies to recover heat, minimize
CO2 emissions, and reduce energy wastage.
