Western Europe most significant trading partner
The role of the Netherlands as a key distribution location is also indicated by the volume of imports and exports. Almost 83% of Dutch exports remain within Europe, especially Western Europe. Germany is easily the most significant trading partner, followed by Belgium, the United Kingdom and France. In 2008, the Netherlands exported nearly as much as the twelve newest EU member states combined.
