Low inflation Macro indicators
In recent years, the Dutch government, in consultation with the social partners, has implemented a strong wage restraint policy, which has ensured in part that inflation has remained low. Inflation in the Netherlands in 2008 was extremely low compared to the other European countries. With the exception of December, inflation in the Netherlands remained below the Euro area average for the entire year.
